PARTNERS IN WASL |
Central Kitsap High sophomores will be taking the 2004 Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) from April 19 - 25. The WASL is a statewide exam given to all 10th graders in Washington. the test measures learning in the areas of reading, writing, listening, math, and science. CKHS has consistently scored above the district and state averages. Our staff is committed to ongoing academic preparation including specific WASL test preparation. The results of this test are intended to measure what students are learning and to help teachers improve instruction by providing better information about where their students may need help. You can help your student now by talking with them about their daily work, homework, and how they're doing on classroom tests. Here are some specific things you can do to help your children meet the new standards: Encourage
your children to read widely. There are many tools available to assist parents at the CKSD website: http://www.cksd.wednet.edu/ Continue to challenge your son or daughter to have an "Attitude of Excellence" and put forth their personal best efforts and serious personal application. As always, we continue to work in partnership with you and our students as we move forward toward our goal of increasing student achievement and creating thoughtful, competent, citizens for the 21st century. |
